What we do

Railings, gates, repairs and steel

Every railing we quote is measured on site, built in our shop and installed by the people who built it.

Priced on this page

Railings and gates, built and installed

Porch, stair and balcony railings by the foot, with walk gates and driveway gates added as you need them.

Most asked for

Stair railings

Raked to the stairs so every picket follows the slope, and core-drilled into the concrete.

Curb appeal

Driveway gates

Single or double swing, hung on posts set in new footings.

Ornamental

Scrollwork and collars

Traditional ironwork, built from stock pieces and forged details.

Site visit

Mobile welding and repairs

A broken gate, a trailer, a piece of farm equipment. We look at what is broken first.

Site visit

Structural steel and custom fabrication

Beams, columns, stairs and custom pieces, priced from the drawing.

How we price

A number before the steel is cut

The form at the top of this page uses our real rates. It shows a range rather than a single number because the exact runs, the anchoring and the finish details are things we settle with a tape on site.

Tell us about the railing

How many feet, where it goes, the style, the material and finish, the gates and what the posts go into.

See the range

Midpoint plus or minus 12%. Jobs under our $900 minimum quote at the minimum. Anything over $25,000 gets a measure instead of a number.

We measure and build

We measure, confirm the price in writing and build it in the shop. Travel is priced from your ZIP. The price is the same in any month.

Service area

Based in Hagerstown. We say what the trip costs before we make it.

Your ZIP code sets the travel line on your estimate, so the drive is on the page before we make it.

Notes for anyone evaluating the demo
  • Priced path. Pick Railings and gates, built and installed, then: 30 feet of railing, Stairs, or stairs and a landing, Twisted or knuckle pickets, Steel, powder coated, 1 walk gate, no driveway gate, Core-drilled into concrete steps. Use ZIP 21740. The live pricing engine returns $4,983 – $6,342. 30 feet at $95, the $650 gate and the $250 core-drilling make $3,750; stairs +18%, twisted pickets +15% and powder coat +18% pool to +51%, so the midpoint is $5,662.50.
  • Percentages pool, and here is where that shows. Stainless instead of powder coat takes the pool to +118%: $7,194 – $9,156. Because the pool applies to the whole job, the stainless percentage lands on the gate and the core-drilling too; the help text says the material is figured across the job, and the measure trues it up.
  • Two smaller jobs. 16 feet of plain painted porch railing bolted to a deck: $1,338 – $1,702. A double driveway gate alone, on new footings: $3,828 – $4,872.
  • Minimum floor. 6 feet of plain painted railing on a deck: the work is $570, under the $900 minimum, so it quotes $900 – $1,008.
  • Travel zone. The priced path with ZIP 25401 (Martinsburg) adds the outer ring’s flat fee: $5,067 – $6,448. ZIP 22201 (Arlington) falls to the catch-all: $5,404 – $6,878.
  • Over the ceiling. 200 feet of stainless scrollwork on a balcony with two walk gates and a double driveway gate: the midpoint is $58,420.50, over the $25,000 ceiling, so the widget routes to “we’ll take a proper look”.
  • Out of area. Use ZIP 99901. The visitor gets a polite decline instead of a price, and the lead is still captured.
  • Routing mode. Pick Mobile welding and repairs. That service is in site-visit mode, so it never shows a price at all; the visitor sees “we like to see it first”. None of its questions carries a pricing rule, which the widget still validates and still records.
  • Routing mode. Pick Structural steel and custom fabrication. That service is in site-visit mode, so it never shows a price at all; the visitor sees “we like to see it first”. None of its questions carries a pricing rule, which the widget still validates and still records.
  • The photo question carries no rule. Photos never move the price — the engine skips them entirely. Nothing is uploaded either: on a demo the visitor can tick “I have photos I can send” and the lead records “Has photos to send, not uploaded”, which is the owner’s cue to ask for pictures on the callback. Attaching the image itself is on the roadmap.
  • The missed-call text-back. The CallMitt page replays which of five messages a missed caller would get and why. Straight about where it stands: the texting number is not live and no registration is filed yet, and the forwarded-call hook waits on that number, so today the missed call is logged by hand and the reply becomes an outbox row marked queued. It is not delivered, and a queued row that is still sitting there an hour later is retired rather than sent. The rules, the hours, the weekend, holiday and vacation branches, the quiet hours and the opt-out handling are all built and running now.
  • The widget’s color matches this site because the account’s key carries a theme color; the same script on an agency’s client site would carry the agency’s color.
